Abstract
Gender differences in language use have been extensively researchedin sociolinguistics, discourse studies, and applied linguistics. This paper investigates how male and female speakers of English differ in vocabulary choice, speech style, politeness strategies, and communication purposes. The objective of the study is to analyze gender-based linguistic tendencies and explain them through social and cultural contexts. A qualitative research method was applied, based on academic literature analysis and examination of authentic discourse examples. The results show that female speakers generally employ cooperative and polite strategies, while male speakers tend to use more competitive and assertive language. The findings contribute to a better understanding of gender as a sociolinguistic variable and highlight the role of gender norms in language behavior. The study suggests further empirical research in diverse communication settings to deepen knowledge on the topic.
