Analyzing the main contradictions of gender identity theories
Abstract
The modern world, characterized by great dynamism and variability of socio-cultural patterns and norms, creates certain difficulties for the individual, provoking identity crises and intrapersonal gender conflicts. What was an accepted norm for the individual yesterday may no longer be in demand today, as a result of which the individual loses the sense of consistency and integrity in his or her life (as if the person I am today is not the same as I was yesterday). Intrapersonal gender conflict is the experience of inconsistency in changes to oneself as a man or a woman, discrepancy between internal values, images, and ideals of masculinity/femininity, non-acceptance of oneself or individual aspects of one's personality as a man or a woman.
