Abstract

The period of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1918-1920), though short, marks an important phase in Azerbaijan's cultural life as an independent state. During this time, political and social changes were reflected in the cultural sphere. Significant progress was made in the field of education. For the first time, schools teaching in the Azerbaijani language were established in Baku and other cities in 1918, and modern teaching methods were implemented. Additionally, opportunities for women's education were created. One of the most important projects was the establishment of the Azerbaijan State University in 1919, which contributed to the development of higher education and laid the foundation for training specialists in the future. Although the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic lasted only 23 months, its cultural development was evident in all spheres.
