This study investigates the effectiveness of authentic video content in developing linguacultural competence among secondary school students in Kazakhstan. Linguacultural competence, the ability to understand and apply cultural and linguistic nuances in communication, is increasingly essential in a globalized world. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research combines quantitative data from surveys and qualitative insights from open-ended responses to evaluate the impact of video materials such as films, interviews, and cultural documentaries. Results show that these materials significantly enhance students’ listening skills, cultural awareness, and vocabulary retention, while also increasing their engagement and motivation. Challenges, including the complexity of colloquial language and the need for age-appropriate resources, were identified. The study highlights the importance of teacher-curated content and scaffolding strategies to maximize the benefits of video-based learning. The findings demonstrate that authentic video content not only bridges the gap between theoretical and practical learning but also supports Kazakhstan’s educational priorities of fostering multilingual and culturally competent individuals.
