PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY RAW MATERIALS CORRELATIONS BETWEEN STRUCTURE AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY
Abstract
In the era of rapid development of the world, the demand for the products of the pharmaceutical chemical industry is increasing day by day. The development of this field has the following characteristics:
- High requirements are placed on the purity of the products produced in the pharmaceutical chemical industry.
The vast majority of drugs produced in the pharmaceutical chemical industry are intended for oral administration. Since there are a significant number of medicinal preparations of the mentioned type, high requirements are placed on the purity of the manufactured products. Also, in addition to high chemical purity, compliance with the rules of high sterilization during packaging is also required for medicinal preparations, which make up a wide list intended for subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous injections.
- Products produced in small quantities within medicinal preparations (from several tens of kilograms to hundreds of tons per year).
The fact that these types of medicinal substances are produced in small quantities is due to the fact that their therapeutic effect is limited. Only a relatively small number of them are used in various diseases. These include sulfanilamide, salicylic, anti-tuberculosis, hormonal drugs, etc. includes
Loss of primary raw materials used in the production of medicinal products.
The main reason for the large loss of primary raw materials and various materials used in the production of medicinal preparations is explained by the complexity and multi-stage synthesis of most of them. For example, the cost of raw materials included in the cost of antibiotic production is about 60%. For the production of synthetic drugs, this indicator is about 80-85%.
