Abstract

This study explores the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly focusing on ChatGPT, in enhancing speaking and listening skills in foreign language learning. As AI technologies become integral to education, understanding their impact on language acquisition is crucial. This research employs a mixed-method approach, involving surveys and interviews with students and educators to gather insights on their experiences with ChatGPT. The findings reveal that ChatGPT facilitates personalized learning by providing immediate feedback, engaging conversational practice, and offering access to a vast array of language resources. However, challenges such as reliance on AI and the necessity of balancing technology with human interaction are identified. This paper discusses the implications of these findings for language educators and suggests strategies for effectively integrating AI tools into language teaching methodologies. The study concludes that while ChatGPT presents significant opportunities for language learning, careful consideration of its limitations is essential for maximizing its benefits in educational settings. This research contributes to the ongoing discourse on the intersection of AI and education, particularly in the realm of language acquisition
