Theoretical and methodological approaches in the field of religious and religious studies education: global and Kazakhstan experience
Abstract
The relevance of the study “Religious Education Abroad: Myth and Reality” stems from a number of contemporary challenges related to globalization, changing religious practices, and national security. In recent decades, there has been an increase in the number of young people seeking religious education abroad. However, a lack of reliable information and the spread of various myths have given rise to ambivalent attitudes toward this phenomenon.
Furthermore, the topic of religious education abroad is often surrounded by myths. Some believe that it guarantees a high level of knowledge and opens up numerous opportunities for graduates, while others believe that studying abroad inevitably leads to involvement in radical movements. In reality, the situation is much more complex and requires detailed study. It is important to analyze not only the potential risks but also the positive aspects of receiving a religious education abroad, as high-quality education in reputable theological centers can indeed contribute to spiritual development, increase religious literacy, and strengthen traditional values.
