Abstract

This article theoretically examines the features of the development of nonverbal communication skills in children aged 4-5 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The relevance of the study is determined by the increasing number of children with ASD and the growing importance of developing early communication abilities within the modern system of special education. The paper is presented as a literature review and is based on the analysis of domestic and foreign scientific sources that explore the characteristics of nonverbal communication development in children of this age. Particular attention is given to such components as gestures, eye contact, joint attention, and facial expressions, as well as to the difficulties in their formation and underlying causes. The main factors influencing the development of nonverbal communication skills in children with ASD are identified, including cognitive, emotional, and social aspects. Their interrelation and impact on the formation of communication behavior are theoretically substantiated.
