Abstract

The article provides a comprehensive explanation of the role played by various work formats used in student‑centered instruction—individual work, pair work, group work, and whole‑class activities—in organizing the teaching and learning process. It analyzes the advantages of each format, the challenges encountered during their implementation, and the methods of assessment. Individual work addresses students’ personal learning needs and allows them to progress at their own pace, while pair work promotes mutual collaboration and knowledge exchange. Group work stimulates cooperation, creativity, and team spirit, whereas whole‑class activities create opportunities for collective discussion and idea sharing. The article emphasizes that the balanced and purposeful application of these formats enhances the effectiveness of the instructional process and contributes to the development of 21st‑century skills.
