Abstract

Georgian ethno-footwear reflects a significant part of the history of our country's ethno-material culture, and the dynamics of its types of construction over the centuries requires scientific research and analysis. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to determine the prerequisites for the production of ethno-footwear in Georgia and the stages of construction development.

It is undoubtedly interesting from which century the earliest stages of the creation of shoe types and constructions in Georgian reality begin. Therefore, our goal is to study the main types of Georgian ethno-footwear, to familiarize ourselves with and describe the relevant shoe constructions, technological processes, ancient patterns or craft tools for shoemaking characteristic of the region since ancient times, in accordance with the dynamics of the constructive development of shoes. As well as getting to know its color, construction, ornamentation, consumer properties, seasonal, social and ritual features.

Information about the existence of the first shoe construction in Georgia is available only from the 2nd millennium BC, therefore the chronological framework of the research is determined from this period to the present day, by studying shoe samples, construction features, material packages and means of production of the historical period.
