Abstract

This article examines the concept, development and importance of non-formal education within lifelong learning. Drawing on the work of F. Coombs, M. Ahmed and A. Rogers, as well as international experience from Finland, Australia and the Nordic countries, we examine how non-formal education complements formal systems and meets the educational needs of individuals and society. The article examines the current state of non-formal education in Kazakhstan and outlines challenges and recommendations for its integration and recognition into national education policy.
