Abstract

This article studies the rapid adoption of digital payment systems during economic crises, particularly the 2008 Financial Crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. It explains  how financial instability accelerated the use of online banking, mobile wallets, and contactless payments due to safety, and efficiency. The study also discusses key benefits, challenges such as cybersecurity and inequality, and the future development of cashless economies
