Abstract

This article delves into the elements contributing to criminal behavior in Kazakhstan. The study centers on the average crime rate observed from 2003 to 2022. Education is identified as a primary factor influencing the crime rate, with a focus on the Gross enrolment ratio for both men and women as key variables in the research. Additionally, the analysis also considers several other variables that could impact the country's criminal dynamics, such as poverty, Index Gini, inflation, unemployment, divorce rate, and nominal income rate. The results indicate that education plays a beneficial role in reducing crime. Poverty is found to have a positive influence on the increase of criminal activities. Moreover, funnily enough the divorce rate is associated with a growth in crime occurrences.
