Abstract

The article discusses popular and effective from the point of view of international practice methods of formation and maintenance of the institutional status of science in society. The experience of the countries of Western Europe, Asia and the United States, as well as a number of post-Soviet countries identified for analysis based on the ranking of countries in terms of spending on science and the level of research activity, is described. The experience of the UK as a recognized world leader in the popularization of science, the USA, Russia and others are described in detail.
