In the era of globalization and increasing intercultural interaction, the role of foreign language education has expanded beyond the traditional focus on grammar and vocabulary. Today, language learning involves the development of intercultural communicative competence (ICC), which enables learners to communicate effectively and appropriately with individuals from different cultural backgrounds. English, as a global language, serves as a primary medium for international communication in fields such as education, business, science, and technology. Therefore, English language teaching at school must prepare students not only linguistically but also culturally.The purpose of this article is to explore the role and importance of intercultural communicative competence in English language teaching at school. The study examines theoretical foundations of ICC, its components, and its significance in modern education. Furthermore, the article discusses practical methods and strategies that teachers can implement to develop students’ intercultural competence in the classroom. The findings suggest that integrating cultural content into language teaching promotes students’ communicative skills, cultural awareness, critical thinking, and tolerance toward cultural diversity. Developing intercultural communicative competence in school education prepares learners to participate successfully in multicultural and multilingual environments.
