The contemporary world is characterized by unprecedented dynamism, driven by processes of globalization, digitalization, and the intensive exchange of information. The advancement of technologies, increasing mobility, and the growing interdependence among social, economic, and cultural systems are shaping a new reality in which the boundaries between distinct fields of knowledge are gradually becoming blurred. This interconnectedness gives rise to complex challenges that cannot be adequately understood or addressed through one-sided, strictly disciplinary approaches. In this context, the role of leadership is undergoing a profound transformation. The leader is no longer merely a holder of authority or managerial functions, but rather a mediator between different systems, cultures, and perspectives. Effective leadership requires the ability to integrate diverse forms of knowledge, adapt to rapidly changing conditions, and operate within networked environments where interactions are multilayered and nonlinear.
Traditional models of leadership education, based on isolated disciplinary frameworks, are increasingly proving insufficient in preparing future leaders for this complex reality. There is a clear need for new educational approaches that reflect the interconnected nature of the contemporary world and foster holistic thinking, critical awareness, and the ability to synthesize knowledge from diverse fields.
In this regard, the interdisciplinary approach emerges as a key instrument for developing relevant leadership competencies. It offers the opportunity to overcome the fragmentation of knowledge and to create integrated models of education that respond to the real demands of today’s social and professional environment
