This article examines the scientific and pedagogical foundations for developing students’ ecological literacy and culture through biology education in schools. The role of biological education in addressing ecological issues and the importance of cultivating students’ conscious attitude towards the environment are discussed. The article highlights the content-related, methodological, and educational aspects of biology that contribute to the development of ecological literacy and culture. Additionally, active teaching methods, technologies, and assessment systems applicable to ecological education are proposed.
