PERFORMING MASTERY IN THE ART OF KUI
Abstract
This article explores the intricate artistry of Kazakh kui performance through a hermeneutic lens, aiming to deepen the understanding of how performers interpret and convey the cultural and emotional narratives embedded within these traditional instrumental compositions. By integrating musical hermeneutics – a discipline focused on the interpretation of musical meaning – with the study of Kazakh kui, this research seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical analysis and practical performance. The study examines the historical evolution of kui, the role of the performer as an interpreter, and the methodologies employed in hermeneutic analysis within musical research. Through this approach, the dissertation contributes to both the preservation and innovative interpretation of Kazakh musical heritage
