HEYDAR ALİYEV AND THE İDEA OF AZERBAİJANİSM

Abstract

From ancient times to today, the idea of Azerbaijaniism has been formed on the basis of the system of views that preserves and unites the traditions, national-spiritual values, and polyethnic richness of the Azerbaijani people.

Our national leader Heydar Aliyev highly appreciated the concept of Azerbaijaniism in terms of content, and repeatedly emphasized that its main principles consist of "statecraft" and "national patriotism": "Azerbaijanism is the core and basis of the national ideology of the state of Azerbaijan. Statehood, national-moral values, universal values - all these are constituent parts of the concept of Azerbaijaniism. Statehood is to preserve and strengthen the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Statehood should be in the heart of every citizen. Therefore, every citizen should live with feelings of patriotism, and all our propaganda should create feelings of national patriotism in every citizen in order to develop statehood in Azerbaijan."
