TEACHING LISTENING AS A RECEPTIVE SKILL

Abstract

The article elaborates listening as a receptive skill.  Different techniques aiming to teach listening skill are discussed in the article. While elaborating the article, it is possible to see intensive and extensive listening.  Extensive listening typically occurs beyond the classroom, in settings like students' homes, vehicles, or personal audio devices during travel. Intensive listening is also called live listening.  Reading aloud, storytelling, interviews and conversations serve to teach listening through live listening.
