Abstract

Research competence and collaborative skills are highly valued qualities for individuals pursuing higher education and successful professional careers. In today's fast-paced world, individuals are expected to continuously demonstrate their research skills, and this has led to the development of research competence becoming a relevant skill for not only university students but also for school children.

To improve research competence in schoolchildren, this study explored the use of cooperative learning in a math lesson to teach them statistical concepts. The main method used was collaboration-oriented training, which was complemented by additional literature that built upon previously studied materials. The study involved 146 seventh and eighth-grade students, and detailed information was collected using the quantification method.

After conducting tests and analyzing the data, the results showed that the use of practical methods and manuals can significantly increase the level of research competence. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of cooperative learning in fostering research competence among schoolchildren.

The importance of research competence cannot be overstated in today's world, and this study highlights the significance of adopting innovative teaching methods to help students acquire these skills early on. By implementing collaborative learning and practical teaching methods in the classroom, educators can better equip students with the research skills needed for their future academic and professional pursuits.
