Abstract

The communicative method of teaching English has revolutionized language education worldwide, emphasizing effective communication over rote memorization of vocabulary and grammar rules. This approach prioritizes real-life language usage, fostering an environment where learners actively engage in conversation, developing their fluency, accuracy, and confidence. This article explores the principles, strategies, and advantages of the communicative method in English language teaching. One of the fundamental arguments in favor of the communicative method is that it shifts the focus from learning English as a set of abstract rules and vocabulary to using it as a practical tool for communication. This approach enables learners to grasp the living nature of language and encourages them to explore its rich nuances and idiomatic expressions. Communicative method teaching prioritizes developing students' communication and interaction skills. This ensures that students can communicate effectively and confidently in real-life situations through student-to-student interaction and student-to-teacher interaction. CLT essentially aims to have students learn a new language by actually using the language to communicate with those around them.
