Abstract

In the contemporary milieu characterized by rapid advancements in science and technology, languages undergo pervasive influences emanating from the lexicon of these dynamic fields. The concomitant proliferation of information technologies not only expedites communication but also catalyzes the cross-pollination of diverse languages. Nations, cognizant of the imperative to regulate the linguistic ramifications of such interactions, often institute language entities for judicious oversight and mitigation of adverse linguistic effects. Following the official visit of Rza Shah of Iran to Turkey, wherein he was inspired by the linguistic initiatives of Ataturk, a decision was made to establish an analogous institution upon his return to Iran. Termed Ferhengestan, this institution embarked upon multifaceted endeavors aimed at ameliorating terminological incongruities in Persian. Its purview extended to the systematic organization of loanwords from Arabic and European languages that permeated Persian, with concerted efforts directed toward the identification of indigenous Persian equivalents. This research delves into the formative trajectory of Ferhengestan, scrutinizing its early terminological investigations and delineating the discernible impacts thereof on the Persian language.
